The name ALEXANDER is derived from the Greek name Alexandros ‘Αλέξανδρος’ which meant "man defender " from Greek ‘alexo’ «αλέξω» "to defend, help to protect" and ‘aner’ «ανήρ» "man" (later Greek ‘andras’ «άνδρας»). With other words Alexander means "protector of mankind". Then name is used for first time in the Trojan War. Paris had the name Alexandros.

Thank you for the visit and comment. I agree with you! Mankind is also a correct translation of the genitive form of -andros.

Alexander The Great was a "myemenos" in the Caberian Mysteries and his mother was a High Priestess. He was elite. He Had the best education and he was chosen by the oracles to fulfill a WORK (Ergon) for humanity. The name is from Homeric era.
