The Calling of Bahaullah. The Bahai Faith
Hello my new friends
This is my first visit here. I see that people here have brought discussions about religion here, a subject I am much interested in too..
Since I am a Bahai and full of hope concerning the future for mankind I wish to make a few statements about this Faith, which has revolutionized my life.
While the West in the 19th century was busy developing the industrial revolution, the East saw the dramatic birth of a new religious Revelation. This Faith, founded by Bahaullah, (11817-1892) a name meaning the Glory of God, met the grievous opposition by the clergy in alliance with the government- and so it is still today. Many Bahais are killed and persecuted in its land of birth, Iran.
This is a religion with principles designed to support the whole of mankind of today.
1st principle is: Man must seek the truth independently. Not follow blind imitations of the past. For this is the age of the maturing of mankind.
2nd. There must be harmony between religion and science, (reason) Truth cannot be divided.
3rd. There must be equality between man and woman., in every region and country.
4th. There must be education for all children, girls, women and boys. In that order for if the family cannot afford schooling of all children girls must come first.
5th. There must be a world tribunal., court of arbitration with power to intervene in international conflicts
6th A world government must be formed
7th A world federation founded.
8th. There must be a world auxiliary language, formed or chosen.
9th There must be an international system of communication. A new global script system and a common system of weight and of course, one currency.
10th. Universal Peace
11th Man must understand the Oneness of God
12th Understand The Oneness of mankind. "Earth is but one country and mankind its citizens". (Bahaullah)
13th. Realize the Oneness of all the Founders of the world religions, that they are predicting
the one who will appear after them and referring to the ones who preceded them.
Many subjects can be presented here, the amount of Bahai litterature is immense. Bahaullahs Books of Revelation covering more than a hundred volumes and those by His eldest Son Abdu'l-Bahá, form thousands of letters and scripts.
This , the sole fact itself, that a new religion has been founded and proclaimed, that a new Holy! Revelation from a half-forgotten God has been "sent down", is a very challenging issue for many people, surely this is so,, but for some exceedingly FASHINATING. The whole idea of the appearance of a holy Figure, like Christ for example, can be refuted completely by some, while others will seek or crawl on their knees over ice and snow to find out the truth about it. Some led by visions and dream from far away. So it was for me actually. Christ was rejected, condemned and put to death. Abraham was banished from Ur to Kanaan, Moses was forced to leave Egypt. Muhammed had to flee. We know this, Buddha was no exeption either. All their followers were persecuted and had at times to go into hiding, but with time the Holy Teachings, pure from the beginning, were spread widely and changed the world. Now most of the Holy Writ is covered by additions by theologians who lived long ago.
Therefore a New Revelation has been sent, the old Tree of God having withered. Alas, that the Kings and rulers of the Earth rejected Bahaullah Who, from His prison in the Crusaders Foert of Akka , sent mighty Words of warnings to them several times admonishing them to turn to Gods New Message and to cease burdening their subjects with exorbitant taxes for warring against the neighboring countries.. The situation for the Bahais in Iran is very delicate. they have many times been stripped of their belongings and their houses, been shot and driven away during more than 150 years of relentless persecution, and now,must not enter the university, must not even meet, their pensions have been withheld by the authorities. They are tortured, expelled from cities and asked to deny the Bahai Faith to save their lives, something that they do not consent to , so they are imprisoned and many times secretely executed in the Evin prison and elsewhere, quite defenseless , for the Bahais must not harm anybody. The Bahais must fight with the true Word, so to say. They must be loyal citizens, even in Iran. The bahais must be the peace bringers of the world, even to the enemy... The Iranian government claims falsely , among other things fetched from their fancy, that the Bahais are sionists, but the fact is that Bahaullah was forced into banishment to Palestine 80 years before the sionist movement was started by Theodore Herzl. We do never meddle in politics, and certainly not in Israel. Our World center is situated on Mount carmel in Israel, because the authorities of this region was the only ones who accepted the Bahai centre to be placed there. The Bahai movement is a movement for peace, and we must be united. How can we otherwise work for unity and understanding across all borders,- between the nations, religions, ethnic groups, classes , man and women.? This unity is most urgent and necessary.
Bahaullah has brought love in our hearts and a deeply rooted understanding of the unity of religions. So we believe in all previous Founders. We do not cling to" their" old dogmas though, only rever and love them as Messengers of God .Bahaullahs Faith is as Queen Maria of Rumelia said ," peace-bringing, love-creating words," " like a fountain in the desert" for the thirsty soul. It is all-embracing for His vision was universal - open to all people. All are invited.
Bahaullah was however or , of course, a nail in the eyes of the authorities and though admittedly innocent, thrown into a pitchblack icecold pit, three stories below the ground to stay there for four months. His hair was black when incarcerated there and white when He was released. And immediately thereafter He was sent hurriedly into banishment to Baghdad together with His family. They all suffered immensely due to a very cold winter, having scarce clothing or shelter. Thousands of believers had been killed in His homeland. There was left few others but Bahaullah and His relatives. And the Faith was seemingly in a crisis.
These are some of the words of Bahaullah describing His incerceration in the Black pit, the Siyyah Chal ,a former water reservoir of Teheran:
.
"Our innocence was indisputably established by the tribunals.Nevertheless....
We were being hurried along by a troop of executioners and officials. We were consigned for four months to a place foul beyond comparison. As to the the dungeon in which this Wronged One and others similarly wronged were confined, a dark, narrow pit were preferable. Upon Our arrival We were first conducted along a pitch-black corridor, from whence We descended three steep flights of stairs to the place of confinement assigned to Us. The dungeon was wrapped in thick darkness, and Our fellow-prisoners numbered nearly a hundred and fifty souls: thieves, assassins and highway-men. Though crowded, it had no other outlet than the passage by which We entered. No pen can depict that place, nor any tongue describe its loathsome smell. Most of these men had neither clothes nor bedding to lie on. God alone knoweth what befell Us in that most foul-smelling and gloomy place!"
On Bahaullahs shoulders were hung two heavy chains weighing 50 kilos, the weight of which left scars on His body all His life.

"Verily, We shall render Thee victorious by Thyself and by Thy Pen. Grieve Thou not for that which has befallen Thee, neither be Thou afraid, for Thou art in safety. Erelong will God raise up the treasures of the earth- men who will aid Thee through Thyself and gthrough Thy name, wherewith God hath revived the hearts of such as have recognized Him-"
I do not know how many people today are there wondering: what are the true signs of divinity and divine strength and trust. Many wouldn't even be able to formulate this question. What are the signs of divinity ? I myself didn't know this . I was only asking for the Man with the kapital M and the Great G, for Genuine among other books looking for wisdom in poetry, central lyrics. Maybe the above story may make you ponder upon what is actually genuine Faith or religion? Maybe you want to know the history of this Faith and to study it. It has endured many crises and come out stronger with each setback, those setbacks mainly due to the authorities of Iran. It is a worldwide Peace-movement now gathering around 2000 ethnic groups , reaching a number of about 6 millions.
