THE GIRL THAT THE SILENCE "UN" for 5 minutes

Hello, I'm speaking for Severn Suzuki and ECO (Environmental Children's Organization), Children's Environment Organization.

We are a group of children of 13 and 14 years in Canada seeking a change: Vanessa Suttie, Morgan Geisler, Michelle Quigg and me.

Raise the money ourselves to come here, and five thousand miles to tell you, adults, you have to change your ways.

By coming here today, I do not have a hidden agenda.
Fight for my future.

Losing my future is not like losing an election or a few points in the stock market

. I am here to speak for all generations to come.

I am here to speak in defense of the starving children of the world which have still not heard weeping. I am here to speak for the countless animals that die on this planet because they have nowhere to go.

We can not bear not to be heard.
I'm afraid to take the sun because of holes in the ozone layer.
I'm afraid to breathe the air because I do not know what chemicals are in it.
I used to go fishing in Vancouver, my home, my father until a few years ago we found a fish full of cancers.

And now we hear that animals and plants become extinct every day, vanishing forever.

Throughout my life I have dreamed of seeing the great herds of wild animals and forests and jungles teeming with birds and butterflies, but now I wonder if there even for my children to see.

Did you wonder where these things were my age?

All this is happening before our eyes and we carry on as if we had all the time and we would like all the solutions.

I'm just a girl and I have all the answers, but I want you to realize: either you have them.
They do not know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer.
Do not know how to restore the salmon to uncontaminated waters.
Do not know how to resurrect an extinct animal.
And they can not recover before the forests where there is now growing deserts.

If you do not know how to fix it, please stop breaking it.

This should be government delegates, business people, organizers, reporters or politicians, but in reality you are mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, and you are all someone's son.

I'm still just a kid, and I know that we are all part of a family consisting of five members trillion, in fact thirty million species, and all share the same air, water and land.

Borders and governments will never change that.
I'm still just a kid, and I know that all in this together and we must act as a single world after a single goal.

In my rage I am not blind, and I fear I am not afraid to tell the world how I feel.

In my country ... We buy so much waste and waste, we buy and waste, and yet the North and not shared with the needy.

Even with more than enough, we are afraid of losing part of our assets, we are afraid to share.

In Canada we live a privileged life, full of food, water and protection.
We have watches, bicycles, computers and television.
Two days ago, here in Brazil, we were surprised when we spent some time with some children living on the street.

And one of them told us: "I would be rich, and if it were, would give all the street children food, clothing, medicine, home and love and affection."

If a street child who has nothing is willing to share, why are we, what have you, so greedy?

I can not help thinking that these children are my age, which marks the place where born a tremendous difference, which could be one of those children living in the favelas of Rio, which could be a child starving in Somalia, a victim the war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.

I'm still just a girl and that if all the money spent on war is used to end poverty and environmental solutions, what would be wonderful place on Earth.

At school, even in kindergarten, we are taught to behave in the world

. You teach us not to fight with others to fix things, to respect, to amend our actions, not to hurt other creatures, to share and not be greedy.

So why leave out and are dedicated to doing things that do not tell us that?

Do not forget why attend these conferences, they do so because we are their children.

Are deciding the kind of world in which they grow.
Parents should be able to comfort their children, saying "everything will be okay, this is not the end of the world" and "we are doing the best we can"

. But I do not think it can tell more.
Are we even on their list of priorities?

My father always said: "You are what you do, not what you say."

Well, what you do makes me mourn for the evening.

You adults, say that we want.
